About Michael Reagan

EDMONDS, Wash. (Aug. 7, 2007)- Michael Reagan, 60, a Seattle native, sketches a portrait of Army Pfc. Jeffrey A. Avery, a soldier who died while serving with the Fort Lewis, Wash.-based 571st Military Police Company, 504th MP Battalion, 42nd MP Brigade, in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The former Marine and Vietnam veteran has drawn portraits for the families of fallen service members for the past three and a half years. His more than 800 portraits are completely free to the families. Reagan has had families tell him his “real-looking” portraits capture the lives of their loved ones.

DMONDS, Wash. (Aug. 7, 2007)- A portrait of Army Pfc. Jeffrey A. Avery, a soldier who died while serving with the Fort Lewis, Wash.-based 571st Military Police Company, 504th MP Battalion, 42nd MP Brigade, in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, comes to life by the hand of former Marine Michael Reagan. It takes, on average, five hours for each of Reagan’s hand-drawn portraits. The Seattle native usually starts early in the morning and says he finishes about two drawings per day. Reagan has been drawing portraits for more than 35 years and said there has been nothing more rewarding in his life than drawing portraits for fallen service member’s loved ones.
